Hello!!

It's been a while since I did one of these RSS updates. I don't even know how to begin typing this. A lot has happened, from me starting uni to being two months in the hospital. And so I haven't been able to do pretty much any work on my site until recently, and even then I haven't been able to rework everything I wanted to rework for V6, but I wanted to push this update anyway.

I changed a lot of things: Mainly, I used to have both my linktree and neocities linked in the bios of my socials, but I decided to have my site as a linktree as well !!

New Index page is made to look like a [Redacted Product from Big Company Name] 2000 login screen. It links to the Desktop, Notebook [New!], my socials (VGen, Tumblr, Artblr, Art Fight, Ig, and pronouns), and also serves as a place to put the webrings I'm in (hopefully as to not break the previous code), personal button and personal stamp.

Old Index is now the Desktop.

I am now calling my windows/programs/sections "apps" for simplicity.

About app remains fairly similar in terms of text, but is now a bit more stylized! It'll hopefully change entirely on V6.1.

Sitemap app has been updated according to all the changes.

To-do app has been removed, as I wasn't really using it.

A new app called Contacts has been added. The apps Contact Book and Chat have been merged for simplicity. This is the app dedicated to People Other Than Me™. You can send messages in the chat or leave a longer and permanent message in the guestbook. Then, you can check out buttons from mutuals / friends and sites that I think are cool.

A new app called Notebook has been added (also accessible from the Index). The apps Gallery, Collection, Text and Shrines merged. Now you can see the graphics I made myself and the ones I collected side by side (userboxes, stamps, blinkies and badges). Then, my diary entries and other writing I've done. Then, my art. This will serve as my portfolio, which has been on the top of my to-do list for a long while now.

The News apps remain the same. I have big plans for the RSS subpages, but, right now, I'm way too busy to work on them TT

The apps Search, Paint and Player remain the same.

The Theme Editor has receiver a colorful update !! On top of the sections being more stylized:

• Two new fonts have been added (Times New Roman and Comic Sans).
  The old BG sections (Dark, Light, Tiles and Halloween) have been replaced by Space (with 2 new static backgrounds), Water (with 6 new animated background and 1 new static background), Sophisticated (with 3 new backgrounds), Digital Effects (with 5 new static backgrounds) and Other / Special (with 3 new static backgrounds).
• The theme's Hue, Saturation and Brightness have been turned into sliders instead of steps for further customization!!

Hello!! It's been a while, I've had issues, like, things that need a bunch of TWs, probably. I may write about it in my journal.

Anyway, here are some updates!! Finally, after almost 3 months, damn.

Also, apparently there was another update I did (V5.2) that I didn't upload, so, uuuh, yeah. It's old, but you'll receive it now. Simply ignore it, I forgot what I wrote, I'm not fixing it.

• Updated the About Section: It's still horrible, I changed basically nothing.
• Added to the Sitemap: Oh no, spoilers.
• Added to the Contact Book: 1 new button (Cool Sites)
• Created the window News: You can finally access both the RSS (cough, cough, ATOM) feed and The RSS Webring easily! (It's not obscured under the Updates in the To-do window)
• Updated the Theme Editor:
  
  • Added the option to turn the VHS Effect on and off. Someone wrote in chat that they wished there was that option because it gave them headaches, and I thought they were so right!!
  • Updated the Fonts: Now, the text inside buttons changes as well!! Also, I fixed a problem with the padding-top on the MS Sans Serif font that was bothering me more than it probably should.
  • Added the option to make the Image Rendering pixelated or smooth, changing the crispiness of a background eheheh
  • Added the option to change the Tile Size to small (I'm sure the tiles have a great personality, ok, plus, it's not small, it's average), medium, and big.
• Created the window Player: The webplayer was kinda annoying in that corner for narrower screens (aka phones), so I'm placing it in a window now!
• Added to The RSS Webring: One new member! Daryl.
• Removed from The RSS Webring: 1 member, Hana. Her website disappeared for some reason. I'll contact her and ask what happened :(
• Removed from the Contact Book: 1 button (Friends / Mutuals), Hana, the same girl I had to remove from the webring TT

• If you've seen the updates from Neocities, uuuh... ignore that (it's a school project that I didn't know where else to host LMAO + I only had two days and my website has a pretty cool but complicated theme/CSS + JS going on, so...).
• Added to the Contact Book: 2 new buttons (Other Cool Sites). The Other Probably Cool Websites!! Section for NavLink Ads.
• Changed My own button & Stamp to Link to me!! (Contact Book), and added my 180px × 180px ad.
• Added to the About Me: The Quizzes section with 4 quiz results.

• Modified space between icons again.
• Fixed style_entries.css (I broke something sometime during the development of V5 and didn't notice, oops).
• Not exactly an update on the site, but I gave my name (ROM) in the chat the admin role!! Aka, a login with a password is required to use that name and be able to delete messages, which should prevent spam and people pretending to be me (not that that's ever happened, butI've seen it happenon other neocities, so I believe it's better to be cautious). You can now be 100% sure it's me because I have a star next to my name.
• Added to theTheme Editor: TheColorsection, with 3 new subsections:
  • HUE: Yellow(default),Green,Turquoise,Blue,Purple,PinkandCoral.
  • SATURATION:B&W,Dull,Normal,Neon.
  • BRIGHTNESS:Light,Normal,Dark,(Yet) Darker.
• Added to the Theme Editor: 13 new backgrounds (4 Dark, 6Light, 3Tiles)
• There are combinations I found interesting written at the bottom if you don't know where to start.
• The page should remember what customization options you chose and apply it the next time you visit.
• Added to the Contact Book: 1 new button (Cool Sites).

RomOS V5 IS HERE!!

Before listing what I've been working on, I wanted to apologise for being pretty absent and not working on the page as much as I should.

I've been really busy with school, tomorrow (as of writing this) I have to do a presentation on Animation: Technical concepts and process and I'm really scared. This is 10% of the final grade, a project we've been working on for "two years" (they let us only one summer to actually work on it), and I feel really bad because I didn't manage to complete my goal in time, not even 50%. They supposedly don't take the level of completion into account because the thing that matters is the research you made and new stuff you learned along the way, but... Idk.

UPDATE: IT WENT GREAT!! I'm so happy :DD The jury told me I did a great job and my animation project was amazing HEHE.

Ok, ok, I'll stop yapping now:

• New window: Sitemap, if you ever get lost or don't know what a partucular window is/does, go there!!
• New window: Themes, you can now customize some aspects of the desktop (for now, only available in the main page, not the subpages)
• I have a pagedoll now!! Drag it around and click it to see what it says. I made three poses for it, one still, one for when it's being dragged around and once for when its talking.
• This isn't really that important but in the Chat there's a guide for you to know from where I am sending messages. Why? ionoh (translation: I don't know, said while shrugging).
• A pop-up will appear (if your browser doesn't automatically block them) every 5 minutes now. Before, they appeared after 2 minutes which was fine because I supposed people didn't stay in my page too long, but now I have more stuff and I fear they will become too intrusive (they already are a pain when I forget to close the tab overnight in my laptop).
• Scratch the last point, it just ocurred to me that I can just put a max of pop-ups open at the same time so... There's a limit of 5 now.
• I optimized a bit the CSS, JS and File Tree... which you won't be able to see or noticed, but took a while and I'm not even 10% on my plan to clean the spaghetti code (if you didn't know, I'm not a programmer, this is the first ever coding project I'm working on outside some games with Scracth in school which... you know, that's not really "coding").
• VHS effect animation is now slower. The fast animation hurt my eyes, so I hope this is better.
• COMMENT SECTION!! On each and every one of the entries.
• Fixed size of the ads. They should adapt to the size of the window now.
• Fixed gap between icons, text under them is easier to read now.
• Fixed link to the RSS Feed subpage.
• The RSS Feed subpage now has a navigation bar and it links to the RSS Ring subpage.
• Added the subpages: Art and Graffiti (empty for now) to the Gallery.
• Added the subpage: Graffiti (empty for now) to the Collection
• Added to the Contact Book: 19 new buttons (1 Friends / Mutuals (previously on Cool Buttons), 18 Other Cool Buttons). Updated 1 button.
• Added to the Gallery - Art: 60 new art pieces (I think).
  • FINISHED PIECES. 2024: 4 Character Designs for my animated project, 5 Background Illustrations for my animated project, 2 Others for my animated project, 6 Art Fight Attacks, 5 Personal Work. 2023: 37 Art Fight Attacks, 1 Personal Work.
  • SKETCHES. 2024: 4 Character Designs for my animation project, 7 Personal Work.

• Ok, I lied, one last update before the big one…
• Added to The RSS Webring: 3 new members.
• Joined: 1 webring (FCWL), 4 fanlists.
• Added to the Contact Book: 5 new buttons (3 Friends / Mutuals, 2 Other Cool Buttons). Updated 1 button.
• Added to the Gallery: 12 new stamps.

• Let this be the last minor update before V.5 PLEASEE
• Updated the subpage: The RSS Webring
• Added to the Collection: 10 new Other Stamps.

• Updated my RSS page and linked it to the main page so you can actually, you know, access it.
• I MADE MY OWN WEBRING!! For people who have RSS feeds for their personal websites and want to find other people with RSS feeds to follow.
• Just expanding on the last point, making a webring was a PAIN. Not only did I have to learn three different programming languages (I forgot what they're called but the extensions were .php, .md, .scss, .toml and another one I don't remember), but THEN I made the ring with Netlify (thing I had never used before) and thought "I don't like the font of the index page" because it didn't let me import my pixelated font. So I deleted everything and tried to make one on my neocities directly, but I'm not pReMiUm (supporter), so I couldn't upload all the files, and Github (another thing I had never used before) was giving me problems. So I deleted everything again and used webri.ng, a platform that makes webrings for you with the click of a button. So my new knowledge wasn't even of use at the end :]

• Anyway...
• You can't really see it, but I reorganized my folders and the files and the links are just a bit cleaner now on the different pages and subpages. This took so long...
• Fixed a typo where one of the entries had [!] when it didn't have a TW.
• Wrote 2 entries.
• Added to the Contact Book: 1 webring (mine, blink blink), 1 friend / mutual, 4 other buttons. (I'M SO SORRY I TOOK SO LONG TO ADD THEM, I WAS WAITING FOR V.5 OF THE WEBSITE BUT STUFF HAPPENED WAA)

• Created the Shrines section.
• Created a Shrine to my light and planned a Shrine to Shadow The Hedgehog.
• Created for my light's Shrine the pages: Home, Our Relationship and About her.
• Added the webdeck player (music player developed by Chris) in my desktop!!
• NEW CURSORS!! They're now pixel art and made by me. They are also more precise (before, the images were offset).
• I have a TamaNOTchi now!! Her name is CarlitOS. I'm a busy dad so please feed it for me if you can (she's probably hungry or worse, starving).
• There is now a counter for the number of visitors, but idk if it works, I'll have to upload this V4 to neocities to find out, we'll see HEHE
• Button sections are now linked!! Which means if I add a button to the Gallery, it will appear in the taskbar as well.
• You can't really see it but the way I orginized my files BOFF, it's actually not as messy as it was before and I now have subfolders for my images instead of all the images being in one place.
• Imported to the webdeck player: 3 new playlists (Cooking Daddy (49 songs), Cooking Daddy's Meal (43 songs), Normal Playlist (28 songs) and TF2 but only the ones I like (27 songs)).
• Joined the bucket webring, the no-ai webring and applied to the TTI webring.
• Added to the Contact Book: 8 new buttons and 3 new webrings (Bucket Webring, No-AI Webring and TTI (which I am not oficially a part of atm, waiting for my application to be accepted)).
• Added to the collection: 24 new buttons.

• Added the Best Seach Engine™ (VHSearch! for searching Neocities) as an iframe :D
• Added, also as an iframe, MS (heavily inspired) PAINT.
• Headers (h1) don't suck now lmao
• Title images and another two types of images get like 10% bigger when hovered so that means they're 10% cooler now!
• The graphics in the Gallery section also get a bit bigger when hovered so they're 200% more satisfying now.
• Move the updates to the To-do section because it makes more sense for it to be here!?!?!
• THE TASKBAR DOESN'T SUCK ANYMORE EITHER LET'S GOOOO!!!! It has cool buttons and (most of them) are clickable, if not to their credits, to a related article :D
• P.1 of "Plan: Enhance Gallery" executed perfectly!! The different graphics/sections are collapsible now.

• Solved a bug where a window wouldn't close if it had been minimized before.
• Added a loading screen.
• Added a pop-up ad.
• Added the Updates subsection inside the WIP section ;]
• Added a drop-shadow to all graphics in the Gallery section for aesthetic reasons and because it's easier to see they're links.
• Made it so that all entries are closed by default.
• Ordered the entries by month.
• Figured out how to make all the buttons sit one after the other correctly in the Text section.
• Changed the formatting a bit.
• Wrote new content in the About section.
• Updated to-do list.
• Wrote 1 entry.
• Added to the collection: 13 new blinkies (1 made by me), 16 new stamps (16 made by me), 2 new badges (2 made by me), 2 buttons to other websites.

THE beningin OF OUR ADVENTURE!!

I'm so cringe TT. Anyway I have an RSS feed now, epic.

• Developed a nice and consistent colour palette to use in the future.
• Edited a template and developed it further so you can actually look at it without crying.
  • Solved a bug it had with the resize handles in the windows. They used to move with the text when scrolling.
• Finished the basic outline for the website.
• Added the About, WIP, To-Do, Chat, Gallery, Text, WIP (2) and Credits sections.
• Wrote 2 entries.
• Added to the collection: 11 new blinkies, 7 new stamps, 32 new badges and 11 new userboxes.
